Dauerbrenner
BBQ briquette:
Twice as long,
twice as good.

Thanks to their consistently high heat output and particularly long burn time of 4 hours, the Dauerbrenner BBQ briquettes are real bundles of energy, burning twice as long as charcoal. That is why they are perfectly suited for grilling food that needs to be cooked slowly (indirect grilling method) and enjoying long-lasting BBQ delight.

LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place the firelighters (e.g. 2-3 lighting blocks) on the coal grate and light them. Fill the Dauerbrenner BBQ briquettes into the chimney starter und place it directly over the firelighters.

  2. You will have about 30 minutes before you can start grilling. No fanning, waving or blowing is required.

  3. After about 30-40 minutes, the briquettes are glowing and are coated with a layer of grey ash. Now you can carefully pour the briquettes onto the coal grate. The food should only be put on the BBQ when all the briquettes are glowing red.

GRILLING METHODS

Direct or indirect? The grilling methods

Direkte Grillmethode

Direct grilling method

With direct grilling, the food is cooked directly over the heat source. For this purpose, the briquettes are spread evenly across the coal grate. Due to the high temperatures, a crust will form.

Suitable for…

…food that is grilled only briefly, such as steaks, chops, chicken, burgers, sausages or vegetables.

Indirekte Grillmethode

Indirect grilling method

Indirect grilling is similar to cooking. The briquettes are placed on the sides of the BBQ. Meat, sausages, fish, poultry or vegetables are placed next to the heat source so that the hot air circulates around the food but does not reach it directly. The food is cooked at medium temperature with the lid closed.

Suitable for…

…larger cuts of meat and poultry requiring a longer cooking time.

COMPOSITION

Concentrated or pressed?
Composition

The Dauerbrenner BBQ briquettes consist of high-purity carbon concentrate of mineral origin and due to their density burn for a considerably longer period of time.

BBQ briquettes which are made of carbon concentrate of mineral origin do not contain any sulphur by the way, in contrast to what is often wrongly communicated.

A QUESTION OF TASTE:
CHARCOAL VS. BBQ BRIQUETTES

Charcoal or BBQ briquettes? A question of taste

We give you the facts that may interest you in black and white with regard to material properties, lighting behaviour, burn time and heat output.

Charcoal

Holzkohle
Material propertiesy:
Coked wood
Lighting process:
Approx. 20 minutes until the coal is glowing
Burn time:
Short burn time (approx. 1-2 hours)
Heat output:
Uneven heat distribution on the barbecue as charcoals vary in size
Food to grill:
Suitable for fast grilling of sausages or steaks
Grilling method:
Ideal for direct grilling in open BBQ systems
Not suitable for closed BBQ systems as the charcoal can fall through the grate

Slow- burning briquettes

Dauerbrenner
Material propertiesy:
Carbon concentrate of mineral origin
Lighting process:
Approx. 30 minutes using a chimney starter until the coal is glowing
Burn time:
Very long burn time on account of high density and high carbon content (approx. 4 hours)
Heat output:
Even, slow and controlled glowing due to briquette form
Constant heat output due to consistent quality of carbon concentrate
Food to grill:
Due to their longer burn time, especially suitable for high-quality food requiring very long cooking time
Grilling method:
Suitable for direct and indirect grilling
Due to their properties, especially suited for indirect grilling in closed BBQ systems

Charcoal briquettes

Holzkohle-Brikett
Material propertiesy:
Pulverised charcoal and small charcoal chips
Lighting process:
Approx. 30 minutes using a chimney starter until the coal is glowing
Burn time:
Average burn time (approx. 2-3 hours)
Heat output:
Even, slow and controlled glowing due to briquette form
Varying heat due to non-uniform wood substance, e.g. in case of mixed wood
Food to grill:
Suitable for high-quality food requiring long cooking time

Suitable for direct and indirect grilling
